My Experience With Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection
I was recently sent the Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection to try out! When the bag was delivered to my house I quickly opened it up to reveal the Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection. What an awesome idea! Finally a collection of odor defence laundry pods and beads specifically designed to fight gym smells! The Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection has been designed to “remove odors at the source so odors don't come back, wash after wash.” They have the added power of Febreze, which is supposed to break down built-in odors and layers of body soil and dinge, which can lead to odor issues over time. In addition, Downy Fresh Protect with Febreze Odor Defense infuses your laundry with motion-activated technology to neutralize odors for 24 hour odor protection while you move throughout your day!
I was particularly excited because as most of you reading this know that I practically live in the gym. I train athletes, business men and women, fitness enthusiasts, fitness rookies and run transformation programs. I also train myself up to 3x a day. Not only am I training but I train intensely with 1x strength training session and 2x a day intense cardio. So you can imagine just how much I sweat when I am working out that hard. Fabrics that I wear when I train include neoprene, elastane, spandex and moisture wicking blends. We all know that these hold smells and sometimes they are hard to get out!
I basically living and breathing in gym clothes day and and day out you can probably imagine how many times a day that I normally have to change my clothes due to sweat, dirt and smell. I sometimes go through three or more outfits. And how many loads of laundry that I have to do! I was in desperate need for an elevated laundry regime. You don’t realize how dirty your clothes actually are until the “rebloom” happens (either during the workout or while resting in your gym clothes, when you least expect it).
What a difference the Tide + Downy made for me and my laundry. I used the Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection every time I did laundry for an entire week. I was blown away by the difference in smell, the freshness and the softness of my favorite go to gym clothes! Even my regular clients commented on my freshness (not that I was that bad before) but the smell of fresh laundry due to the infused febreeze is noticeably different with the Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection. I didn’t have to change as often as I use to and the odors were definitely neutralized.
I would recommend this product to every gym goer, outdoor adventurist or weekend warrior. Basically anyone who is active should have the Tide + Downy Odor Defense Collection and use it on all of their clothes! Remember to put the pods or beads in before your laundry and you won’t be disappointed. Trust me you won’t want to wash your gym clothes in anything else again. Tide #getsitout

Huntington disease (HD) is a debilitating brain disorder that is fatal and incurable. About one in every 7,000 Canadians has HD and approximately one in every 5,500 is at-risk of developing the disease. Many more are touched by HD whether as a caregiver, a family member, or a friend. Huntington disease is often described as having the symptoms of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS – simultaneously. As the disease progresses, a person with Huntington’s become less able to manage movements, recall events, make decisions and control emotions. The disease leads to incapacitation and, eventually, death.
The Huntington Society of Canada (HSC) is a respected leader in the worldwide effort to find a meaningful treatment for Huntington disease. HSC is the only Canadian health charity dedicated to providing help and hope for families dealing with Huntington disease across Canada.

Carrot Rewards has been enjoying tremendous success since its debut earlier this year
TORONTO, June 16, 2016 /CNW/ - Carrot Rewards, a ground-breaking free app that rewards Canadians for living healthier, launched on Tuesday in Newfoundland and Labrador, with unprecedented results. In just 24 hours, almost 2% of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians downloaded the app and began earning points. The outstanding numbers in NL—the second province to roll out the app— mirror those seen in British Columbia, where over 800,000 out of more than 1 million health offers have been completed, with tens of millions of points earned so far.
"The response to Carrot has been extraordinary and we are particularly proud to have Newfoundland and Labrador become the second jurisdiction in the world where Carrot is running," says Andreas Souvaliotis, Founder and CEO of Carrot developer, Social Change Rewards.
Harnessing the popularity of loyalty points and the prevalence of smartphones, Carrot Rewards allows users to earn points from participating loyalty programs for making better lifestyle choices. Users are rewarded for downloading and sharing the app and for each time they engage with it – whether through taking a quiz, making healthy lifestyle choices or walking a few more steps each day thanks to a new step tracking feature.
Carrot was developed with the support of founding partners, the Public Health Agency of Canada and the British Columbia Ministry of Health. Other partners include the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and a cross-sectoral coalition made up of loyalty partners and three of the leading health charities in Canada, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association and YMCA Canada.

HEALTHY GUMS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
Study Shows Connection between Gum Disease and Pancreatic Cancer
A new study presented at the 2016 American Association for Cancer Research meeting points to a connection between gum disease as a potential early marker for pancreatic cancer. The study, from a group of researchers at New York University, could possibly pave the way for early detection of this deadly disease.
So, it’s more important than ever to keep our teeth and gums in good shape. And studies also show that smiles make us more attractive, lower stress, elevate our mood and make us look younger!
But, many of us don’ take good care of our gums. Nearly 50% of adults 30 years old or older have periodontal disease in the U.S., and that number spikes to 65% in adults 65 years old or older. Yet, it’s not a disease that’s readily discussed, despite the fact it’s 2.5 times more common than diabetes! But, there’s good news. Gum disease is preventable, or reversible, if you just “love the gums you’re with.”
The American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) encourages all Americans to understand the importance of periodontal health through its “Love The Gums You’re With” campaign. The AAP hopes to educate us on the importance of good oral hygiene, and the need to speak to a dental professional about periodontal health because we all love the thought of a sparkling smileand fresh breath.
“Taking care of your gums shouldn’t be an afterthought,” says AAP President Dr. Wayne Aldredge. “Gum disease is preventable, or reversible. You just need to follow a few simple tips to ensure a lifetime of healthy gums.”
The AAP just launched a new tumblr page called GUMBLR (Gumblr.org) to help you take better care of your gums. This engaging site is filled with valuable information to help you find a local periodontist, learn more about gum disease and take aninteractive quiz. Check it out today!
To help us keep the gums we have for life, here are some fast facts from the AAP:
There are two types of periodontal disease: gingivitis, the mildest form, and periodontitis, or advanced gum disease
Periodontists specialize in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease, and receive three additional years of training after dental school
Symptoms of periodontal disease include red and swollen gums, receding gums, bleeding when flossing, loose teeth, mouth sores and persistent bad breath
Gums may separate from teeth, forming pockets that become infected with bacteria
Gum disease can lead to social anxiety and discomfort from loss of teeth and bad breath
Here’s what helps according to AAP President, Dr. Wayne Aldredge: “brushing twice a day, regular flossing, regular dental checkups and discussing gum health with a periodontist. If needed, there are non-surgical therapies or more advanced procedures based on the severity of the disease.”
In 2015, an AAP survey showed that 27% of U.S. adults lie to their dentist about how often they floss their teeth, with 15% saying they’d rather wash dirty dishes than floss.
Economical commits $109,500 to the fight against cancer
Insurer supporting the Canadian Cancer Society with title sponsorship for 10 Relay For Life events in Ontario and Quebec
WATERLOO, ON, June 1, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, 63% of adults and 83% of children survive at least five years from their cancer diagnosis, compared to 25% in the 1940s when the Canadian Cancer Society first began funding research. Tremendous progress has been made against the disease but overall cancer cases are increasing because of Canada's growing and aging population.
For 16 years, Relay for Life, the national signature event of the Canadian Cancer Society, has been the biggest cancer fundraising event in Canada. In 2015 alone, 331 communities across the countries united at these events raising $34 million to advance cancer research and support Canadians living with cancer.
This June, Economical Insurance is proud to once again support the Canadian Cancer Society with a commitment of $109,500 in title sponsorship of 10 Relay For Life events in Ontario — three in Ottawa, two in Toronto and one in Mississauga, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Woodstock — in addition to an event at Quartier DIX30 in Brossard, Quebec.
"Corporate sponsorships are essential to the success of our Relay For Life events," says Lesley Ring, vice-president, development and marketing for the Canadian Cancer Society in Ontario. "We deeply thank Economical Insurance and its employees for generously supporting us for the past 10 years."
"At Economical, we have proudly sponsored Relay For Life events since 2006," said Karen Gavan, Economical's president and chief executive officer. "This year, we have raised our sponsorship commitment toward the fight for life and against cancer. Relay For Life helps to fund life-saving cancer research and promote healthy lifestyles which can help stop cancer before it starts. It's also good to know that the Canadian Cancer Society offers compassionate services and support to those living with cancer and their families and friends."
These events are six- or 12-hours long and challenge teams to fundraise and take turns walking or running around a track for 5 km, 10 km or more. People can participate in these events at any age or fitness level. Teams go the distance to show support for people who have experienced cancer. Since 1999, Relay For Life has raised more than $496.5 million in Canada for cancer research and support programs.
This June, join Economical Insurance and its employees by registering for a Relay For Life event. Learn more at relayforlife.ca

Easy Workout Ideas for the Busy Bees Who Can't Hit the Gym Everyday
You know that maintaining an active lifestyle is one of the major top priorities in life. By taking care of ourselves, we stand a chance of being the kind of individual we strive to be at home with our loved ones, on the job, and in the community. However, it doesn’t mean that this is easy.
No doubt, work, in particular, will get in the way of working out. In fact, you will realize soon that there is a huge paradox going on and it becomes more obvious when more exciting and challenging a job becomes.
On one hand, you struggle to find the time to do exercise. On the other, you cannot avoid exercising as it is integral to become successful. Or you can have your very own home garage gym and keep fit without requiring too much time.
How To Become Fit Despite Having A Demanding Schedule
Working Out Efficiently
You need to select a workout which can be done almost anywhere, irrespective of whether you are traveling or coming home late from the office. So, ideally, this will be a kind of exercise which will not need a huge amount of preparation. Plus it can help in accomplishing major physical gains in a matter of short period. Some of the best choices are Tabata training, high-intensity interval training, running, and bodyweight exercises.
Exercise During Commercials
Can’t miss the big popular games and favorite TV shows? Rather than sitting on the couch with your favorite snack food, you can mix up a delicious blend of healthy veggie and fruit juices and do various exercises during commercials.
Try to use the dumbbells, bands or body weight and choose a fast exercise circuit. During the commercials, performvarious exercises and reps as much as you can. You can use dumbbells, bands or even your body weight for the fast exercise circuit.
During every commercial, you can perform various exercises and reps as much as you like. From a 30-min sitcom, you get up to 9-10 minutes of exercising time.
Catering To Your Dislikes and Likes
Many people hate running, and that is fine. It is important that you become realistic and know what you like or dislike. One person’s running is another person’s weight training, yoga or dance. It is important to flex your self-discipline muscles with regard to exercising.
But you need to make it easier by selecting a form of exercise which is apt for your lifestyle, taste, and personality. If you are not sure what you like to do, then don’t be sad. You must not be afraid to experiment with many types of exercises until you get what works the best for you.
Night Exercise
If you are a working mother, then a full day of work, making dinner, and running back of the kids can make you exhausted. However, you need to fight the urge to hunker down. Try to select a workout which helps you to unwind.
You can workout on a treadmill, dumbbells, a body weight circuit or bands. Now if you have a hard time settling down especially from the night time workouts, then you can do something calming like stretching or yoga. Even better, you can use the burst of the energy by spending time with your partner, which is what you need.
Taking Competition As Motivation
To becoming successful in work, collaboration is an essential aspect. However, when you are trying to motivate yourself by exercising on a regular basis (that too with enough intensity which matters a lot), competition has its own merits.
Nowadays it is possible to find competition matching your skill level in any sport or field. So, whether you are a beginner, elite or somewhere in between, there is always something for all of us. Go ahead sign up, set the goal and find out what it can do to you. If the odds are good then it can be the push that you need to keep yourself in the game.
Create A Schedule And Commit To It
One of the major reasons for why people skip a workout is either being busy at work or picking up the kid from school. It involves dealing with the given situation. At times, you can cancel the internal meeting, take some work home with you, so that you can hit the gym.
Basically, it is all about prioritizing. The truth is that you have to get out of the office at the time when it is necessary. Try to make a schedule (even you can write it down if it helps) and stick to it. Remind yourself that working out is a top priority worth keeping.
Tracking The Levels Of Activity
There is an old saying “If you don’t measure it, it doesn’t exist”. Yes! It is a slight exaggeration, but it holds some truth to it, especially when it is related to exercising. Make sure to keep a note on the calendar every time when you work out. You can add the workout session at the end of each week, month and year. This helps you to monitor your progress and find out areas to improve.
It is better if you measure your activity levels as it can help you to remain on track and realize when you are going to slip just before you completely lose the habit.
Selecting Something Over Nothing
Frankly, you don’t need an hour or even thirty minutes to do an effective and complete workout. Doing some exercise is virtually much better than none. Heck, even a ten minutes can create a difference. You can easily catch some few free minutes in your daily life. So, with an efficient program which can frequently be done, speedy and short workouts can do wonders for both the mind as well as the body.
Winding Up
Try to squeeze in the schedule to workout wherever you are and no matter how much time you have with regard to bodyweight exercises. Also, you can use theassistance of apps which prescribes the best exercises to be done at your desk.

Fitness Supplements: Which Is The Cheapest And Which Is The Best?
There are dozens of different fitness supplements on the market, and all of them have different pros and cons. Whether you want to bulk up, shrink down or stay largely the same, there’s a supplement to help you accomplish your goal.
Of course, shopping in this market with so many options can be daunting, but luckily, help is at hand! This post will act as your supplement shopping guide, giving you some general pricing and info about the five top supplements on the market. Happy shopping!
Casein protein, much like whey protein, is very common. As such, it can be found from pretty much every retailer at low prices. This means that it’s affordable, and the fact that it works wonders doesn’t hurt, either.
Casein is a form of protein that releases its benefits slowly, and as such, is best used before bed. This way, you’ll be supplied with a steady flow of protein while you’re sleeping and unable to eat. It’s also useful before long car journeys, or any other time where you’ll be unable to consume food.
Whey Protein
As mentioned previously, whey protein is extremely common. It’s the most-used kind of protein supplement, and as such, is very affordable. Because it’s the most common, it’s also given discounts and offers the most, and it’s easy to find more info on these.
Don’t let these low prices put you off, however. Whey protein isn’t a budget product. It’s used by bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts across the globe, and with good reason. It provides a quick fix of protein that can help repair and recover your body from an intense workout or injury.
Creatine
Creatine is usually on the more expensive side of the supplement range, but it’s no less useful. Creatine is naturally produced by the body, and increases your ability to produce more energy rapidly. If you have more energy, you can lift more, and you’ll gain more muscle.
Creatine is best used in high intensity sports that don’t last very long such as weight training and sprinting. It’s mixed with a liquid - preferably fruit juice - in order to be absorbed by the body a lot quicker. If you’re looking to gain a slight edge over the competition or want to be able to move more weight, creatine is right for you.
Pre-workout
Pre-workout is similar to whey and casein protein in price, but different in functionality. As the name implies, it’s meant to be taken before a workout to give you that high kick of energy and enthusiasm. You’ll feel more alive, more electric and more ready to tackle any form of physical activity.
This in mind, it’s best to be taken in moderation. You don’t want to only be able to perform after a dose of pre-workout. You want to be able to perform all the time! Pre-workout should only be used to get an extra rep or two, or to run an extra metre or two. It shouldn’t be the foundation of your whole session.
Multivitamins
Everybody needs vitamins, but it can be hard to get them all. Multivitamins are probably the cheapest supplement on this list, and can be found in pretty much any store.
There isn’t much to say here, other than that if you have a deficiency, or are unable to eat a certain food, vitamins can help you out. You can bring up the area in which you are lacking, all by consuming a single tablet. Do you have any supplement experience? Let us know in the comments below!
