PAINCAKES - A Review -The first reusable, stickable cold pack to hit the market
I was recently sent Pain Cakes to try! I absolutely love it! Where has it been my whole life! This little reusable, stickable ice pad has been a savour these past few weeks of my prep!
I simply freeze it, take it out, stick it to where im sore and can reuse it! it keeps perfect temperature for recovery for up to 15 minutes which is the perfect time.
I give this product a 10/10 and would recommend it to any one who needs icing for recovery from workouts, surgery, rehab etc.
PAINCAKES stick and stay exactly where you put them, solving the vexing problem of keeping a cold pack where you position it.
These 5-inch circular PAINCAKES require no straps, no tape and no awkward contraptions to keep them in place.
The innovative, patented gel pack provides targeted cold, localized cryotherapy like no other product does. They can be used in multiples for accurate positioning to specific recovery areas.
They are ideal for every type of athlete, parents, seniors, kids and medical professionals of all sorts.
PAINCAKES are hypoallergenic, free of latex and silicone and the gel is m edical grade.
"Using a NASA re-entry engineer to help us with our temperature modeling, we developed a gel that uses an appropriate sodium/magnesium content to lower the threshold for freezing based on the average temperature of most modern freezers," says inventor Noah Soltes, who spent 2,240 hours in a walk-in freezer while designing the product.
The initial PAINCAKES product is a 5-inch version – a more compact 2.75-inch version as well as a wrap-around version are in the works as well.
PAINCAKES sell for $12.99 each and are currently available at hundreds of retailers nationally as well as on the site:www.pain-cakes.com
Eating healthy but most importantly clean can be tough! Especially when you're fighting a sugar addiction and your brain tells you that you should eat every cookie you see and consume every ounce of a chocolate bar; so it's important to find wholesome substitutes. It's best to try to make your own treats at home so that you can ensure you're using whole and real ingredients, but every once in a while you can find a treat that is both satisfying to your sweet tooth and nutritious. I think I've found it in Kashi's Go Lean Dark Chocolate Cashew Chia. I was drawn to these because they remind me of a treat my friend makes with dark chocolate, cashews, chia seeds and maple syrup.
I found these while browsing down an aisle at Target. They were actually on clearance. The box boasted 9 grams of Plant Protein, 6 grams of Fiber and Gluten Free. But before trying, I had to check out the nutrition facts on the back of the box where I found the following:
With all of these pros, I wanted to try the product but was unsure of what they would taste like, but because they were on clearance at a reduced price I decided to give it a try.
One word came to mind after the first bite: delicious! These bars were not only nutritious but delicious! I couldn't believe that they were what I would consider a guilt free chest! Would I suggest eating them daily? Probably not if you're eating with the goal of weight loss in mind, staying away from a lot of carbs or eating for certain goals, but these are amazing to help you satisfy a sweet tooth craving or when you simply want a treat on occasion!
I would definitely give these a 5 star rating! They're chewy, fresh and bursting with flavor!
These contain nuts! Do NOT consume if you have a nut allergy!
In a world thats filled with pollution, its so important that we do our part in keeping our environment safe! One of the best and most practical ways we can do so is by reducing our use of plastics and recycling every chance we get. I had the chance to try a Ion 8 water bottle. The Ion 8 water bottle isn't just any water bottle. According to their website, Ion8 band water bottle is, "is impregnated with crystals that naturally have a magnetic force field. As water passes, this force field causes disruption in the water molecules, resulting in measurable electron shifts *. The disrupted water molecules take on a charge through this shift in electrons, and is ionized."
Ion 8 water bottles are also 100% leak proof (which is so important, nothing is worse than a leaky water bottle), are easy to use and keep your water hot or cold (depending on the original temperature of water used).
I had tried out the Ion 8 water bottle and it's super cute! Sometimes you need that extra initiative to drink more water and carrying around a cute, fashionable water bottle helps! However, the bottle is kind of small.
I personally didn't taste a difference in the water but that doesn't mean that it isn't working, I just didn't taste or notice much of a difference.
But if you're looking for a new water bottle with more benefits than the norm, you should give the Ion8 Water Bottle a try. Check them out here: http://www.ion8.co.uk
It's less than 50 days until summer which means its time to attend amazing BBQ's and weekends out with your friends. What does that mean? Drinks! Normally, this sounds like a good time, however, when you're serious about your fitness goals or prepping for something, the first thing to go is usually alcohol. Most alcoholic beverages are full of sugar and ingredients that not only make for a not so great next day, but definitely take you off course for your fitness goals that you are trying to achieve. Sometimes, staying away from drinks at family get togethers and evenings out with friends can make sticking to your plan really hard. But what if we told you there is away to enjoy the occasional drink without the guilt of veering off of your plan?
Well there is!
A friend recently introduced us to a new cocktail mixer called, "RSVP Skinnies". These all natural cocktail mixers are absolutely amazing!!! They allow you to celebrate and toast with your friends without the guilt.
What I love most about these is that they are so discreet no one will even notice that you aren't having a sugary, carb filled drink. They come in 4 flavors that I know of (Baja Margarita, NY Cosmo, London Gimlet and Maui Mai Tai) but my favorite flavor has been the Baja Margarita. My drink of choice is a Margarita but when prepping or on a meal plan I stay away from Margarita's and pretty much any alcohol because I don't want the extra calories, sugars and carbs.. What I love about the Baja Margarita flavor is how easy it is to make... All you need is:
Water
Ice
1.5 Oz of Tequila (or a shot of Tequila)
and your 'Skinnie packet'
When out with friends, all you need to order is a shot of Tequila and a glass of Ice Water and you can have a Margarita without the guilt!
What makes these "Skinnies" even more amazing is that they contain no preservatives, aspartame or artificial coloring.
Did I mention they're also cost-friendly... They're about $1 a packet or $6 per box.
This is a great thing to have around as we approach the summer! But as with everything, drink these in moderation!

SPIbelt - Keep All Of Your Personal Items On You While You Train - A Review
Now that the weather is breaking and a lot of us are planning to shift out workouts from outside to inside. But working out outside brings its challenges. One of the most inconvenient of them is not being able to carry everything that you need without a backpack or feeling and hearing your items like your keys, phone and maybe carbs flopping in your pockets. I know I also tend to worry about dropping something or something slipping out during my run. That's why I decided to look into SPIbelt and give it a try.
What drew me was the fact that I would be able to carry everything I needed without the stress or annoyance that usually comes a long with it. The SPIbelt had enough room in it to fit my keys, phone and money. I loved the way everything fit so snug and secure. I was able to try it out on a hike and it didn't disappoint! I liked it so much, that I carried it to the gym with me to help me keep up with everything and I really liked it.
We've all tried fanny packs but not only are hey not really cute, but I always have a problem with them riding up. I didn't have this problem at all with the SPIbelt.
If you're into being active outdoors, I would suggest the SPIbelt. You might even like it at the gym if you don't have access to a locker.
I was recently invited and attended the grand opening of Cyclebar Leaside which is a premium indoor cycling facility. They recently opened their doors here in Toronto.
What is extra unique about the studio is that you can access their "cycle star's" aka instructors playlists from your rides. http://leaside.cyclebar.com/cyclebeats-lists/ <- I love this feature since I do a lot of cardio and am always looking for something new to listen to and I just so happen to have spotify anyway.
The class was fun, energetic and unique. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun way to spice up their cardio outside of the norm.
I have a youtube video going up that includes my experience with the class on March 17, 2017 5:30 AM. So go subscribe to my youtube channel now so you don't miss it:
Lastly as she started the cool down I got an instant email with my cycle stats and placing in the class. A disappointing 12th hahaha. Check it out below:
I was recently sent some new protein to try. Its Called Bipro. They sent me vanilla, chocolate and unflavoured. I tried them before I entered prep and I was really impressed. The Vanilla is 90 calories, 0g of fat, 1g of carb with 22g protein. The chocolate is 90 calories, 0.5g of fat, 2g of carb with 20g protein. The unflavoured is 80 calories, 0g of fat, 0g of carb with 20g protein.
A little bit about the company and my findings:

Starting in July 2016, BiPro will finally be available in Canada through Amazon.ca. It will also be sold in specialty stores as of this fall.

Short ingredients list
BiPro will be offered in a 907 g (2 lbs.) jars as well as boxes with 14 individual packets. You have the choice of Unflavoured, Chocolate or French Vanilla.
I was honestly really impressed with the taste and quality. I like that it is high in protein with BCAA in it. It was easy to digest and I believe it that they say its one of the purest whey's on the market with a 97% purity level. Its also naturally gluten free and there are only a few ingredients therefore it clearly isn't packed with fillers or chemicals.
BrainHQ Crushes Competition in First Review of Science Behind Brain Apps
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 31, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The first systematic review of study evidence that commercially-available, brain-training programs might help with healthy aging just published in Neuropsychological Review. The reviewers found that BrainHQ from Posit Science had by far the most and the highest quality studies.
The authors of this first systematic review conclude "current evidence supports that at least some commercially available computerized brain training products can assist in promoting healthy brain aging."
The reviewers surveyed the brain training market and the academic literature to categorize the quantity and quality of peer-reviewed studies showing effects of brain training in healthy aging.
They looked at 18 commercially-available, brain-training programs, and found that 11 had no clinical trials or empirical evidence for review.
The reviewers found seven companies had studies that were relevant, and met the review criteria of being peer-reviewed clinical trials of computerized exercises with formal cognitive outcome measures for healthy adults aged 50 and older. This methodology resulted in 26 studies for review.
Of those 26 studies, 10 were trials of Posit Science exercises. Eight of those 10 studies were judged to be of the highest quality. Posit Science far outpaced its nearest competitor, which had three studies of which only one was considered high quality.
The reviewers wrote: "Multiple peer-reviewed articles evaluating Posit Science programs have fulfilled the gold standard for clinical trials."
Of the seven companies that the reviewers found had any relevant evidence from trials, Lumosity was found to anchor the lower-end, with what the reviewers described as one randomized controlled trial of "moderate quality."
The reviewers noted that until five years ago there were relatively few studies of brain-training programs. Even now, the lack of a systematic review has left "clinicians with inadequate information from which to base recommendations for their patients at risk of cognitive decline."
However, with this review the authors conclude that the evidence behind a majority of the programs evaluated supports "the notion that the human brain is plastic in later life, and can benefit from specifically designed brain training programs."
"There’s been a lot of conflicting reports on whether or not brain training works," said Dr. Ralph Martins, who led the review team. "This systematic review shows that some brain training has lots of evidence of efficacy, which may surprise some health professionals. Personally, I was more surprised by the amount of brain training on the market with no evidence at all."
"This review performs an overdue public service by differentiating between what has been shown to work and what has little or no evidence," said Dr. Henry Mahncke, CEO of Posit Science, which makes BrainHQ. "It`s a strong response to those who have said that the evidence for brain training is `mixed` - what`s mixed is the scientific quality of different brain training programs, some of which have strong evidence for efficacy and some of which have none."
"This review marks a first step of treating brain training programs like we treat new pharmaceuticals - carefully evaluating which ones work, and then putting those to work to help people," Dr. Mahncke concluded.

I give this tracker a 9/10. It looks great, tracks great, is very aesthetic, has great unique features but I sometimes have difficulty with the clasp when I want to take it on and off. It sometimes gets frustrating and I have to fight with it for a few minutes. Even with that I totally love it and highly recommend it for those who'd not like the look of other sporty activity trackers.
It's the New Year so a lot of us are looking to jumpstart our weight loss journey for the year. One way that many around the world do so is my cleansing. Juice cleanses are cleanses that have grown in popularity in recent years.
I recently decided to purchase a juice cleanse system and my results were amazing!
I decided upon the Blueprint Organic cleansing system, specifically the Foundation Cleanse. I chose this cleanse because I desperately needed detox. Not only did I need to detox my body, I needed to detox my mind, body and soul which led me to the Foundation Cleanse. The Foundation Cleanse is centered around veggie based juices more so than fruit juices. According to their website, this cleanse triggers body digestion and detox that can help with managing weight.
I decided to do a 5 day cleanse which means that I ate no solid foods. I only drank 6 juices a day. I spaced the juices out to a juice every 2-3 hours.
The first day was easy, I believe it was due to my excitement. However, by the second day, things got a little harder. I was determined to stick to the cleanse no matter what because I wanted the results and I'm happy to say that by the 3rd day of the cleanse I no longer had a desire for solid food, instead, I craved the juices. As I stuck to drinking the juice 2-3 hours a part and drinking water, I must say I personally didn't experience much hunger during ANY of the days.
RESULTS
After the cleanse, I lost 8 pounds. My skin also appeared to clear up and I had a surge of energy by the 3rd day of the cleanse as well. By the 4th day, my brain fog was completely lifted and I found myself thinking clearer, feeling more positive and feeling lighter!
If you're looking for a cleanse to jumpstart your weight and to help you mentally, I would suggest this one. You never realize how much your eating is dictated and determined by your emotions until you do a cleanse. This cleanse helped me to become more mindful of that and helped me jumpstart my new healthy journey.
I do however suggest that you do research and speak to your doctor first before you start any type of extreme cleanse like this. I would also suggest that you research all of the cleanses that are on the market and know what you're looking to do to help you decide what brand and type of cleanse you want to do.
