Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Lole all white tour. I have to say this was a very well run event. I am not a yogi but I definitely enjoyed all of the flow. The two instructors who lead it were amazing. Thank you for inviting me Lole. Not only did I get an invite but Lole dressed me for the event in their line. The event was all white and Ive never actually wore a pair of all white pants. I was a bit hesitant but the pants fit great, felt great and best of all were not see through! Lucky for the 2000 people behind me in attendance wouldn't you say?
I arrived bit early to check out the show case of Lole's new line, network and take in the entire experience. The Feel Good Guru provided healthy snacks and pressed juices. All were very yummy. Ive tried her juice cleanse before and absolutely loved it (for those of you interested in a juice cleanse).
Oikos also provided greek yogurt and were a sponsor of the event. In our gift bag full of wonderful goodies they had a knife, spoon and fork set and a picnic napkin for us. After our practice they gave us all a vegan lunch to eat on our mat while local talented musicians played for us. Fiji provided the water. It was relaxing and peaceful.
Lole not only gave us a gift bag full of amazing products, gift cards and picnic accessories but they also let us take home the mat that we used! What an awesome take home!
Thanks again for inviting me Lole. It was an experience that I won't ever forget.
Check out my photos below of the experience! Don't you wish that you were there!
Have You Hard of Zaggora Hot Pants
What are Zaggora hot pants? They are a specially created tight that has what the company calls “cellu-lite” technology. The company claims that this material uses your natural body heat to give you weight loss results by burning extra calories when you exercise. The pants have had some buzz already appearing in OK Magazine, Wall Street Journal and many news papers. They even have a verified twitter account. How do they work? They claim to put the “hot” in “hot pants” and that they make you sweat and increase your energy expenditure by 7% while you are exercising and up to 26% post exercises. Virtually the pants/shorts create a personal sauna without having to sit in a room with a bunch of naked people.
The “hot pants” or tights are designed so that you can where them at any time. Zaggora says that you can wear them “…for a walk in the park, a session in the gym or a run down to the shops.” Meaning that they are not just for the gym. They come in shorts or pants and are available in a variety of bright colours.
This past week I received a package from SMS Audio. The package contained two sets of headphones. One of which I have included here. The SMS Audio - On Ear Wired Sport. In Pink and black! My favourite colours. These headphones came with a great travel case for on the go transport. It is hard shelled so if you are like me and just throw your head phones in your bag this will keep them safe. They also came with a workout towel! How convenient. It actually is soft to touch vs some of the sweat towels where if you have dry skin or a callous your hands immediately stick to the towel.
I quickly put the head phones to work and headed down to the gym for a cardio session. They were very comfortable. Didn't move and I immediately noticed the extra long cord. This is key for wired head phones because it means you have lots of room and don't have to worry about pulling on the cord when doing exercises or HIIT training.
On top of all these other great features the sound quality is what I would call "saudi." Crips and clear.
Overall I would give them a 9/10. I would love to have a wireless version. That would give the headphones an overall 10/10. These are definitely TRAIN IT RIGHT APPROVED! Thanks SMS for these great workout headphones in my two favourite colours pink and black!
Going to the gym alone is tough. There are many mistakes. Below are some of the most common problems that I see at the gym on a day to day basis. They are simple and easy to correct. Once adjusted you will feel better and achieve a more efficient and effective workout.
1. Proper Workout Wear. For your own saftey proper gym shoes should be worn. Weights could fall at any moment and land on your toes and break them or your foot if you are in sandles etc. Also for women a good sports bra goes a long way when exercises, and makes your workout more comfortable and enjoyable. Make sure to shower after your workout because sweat can cause bacteria growth. The last thing you want is something along the lines of athletes foot.
2. Abdominals. Keep your back pressed against the ground, and your belly button pulled in. Try and not bend your neck to keep everything in line.
3. Breathing. Inhale during the negative motion, and exhale during the positive motion. Don’t hold your breath, this could cause hernias or other injuries.
4. Using Weight Clips. Proper safety at the gym is very important. Too many times we through the weights on the bar for squats, bench, or curl bar without putting on the clips. Without the clips any slight movement left or right could send the weights flying, and could cause injury to yourself while lifting or to others next to you.
5. Stretching. Stretch at the end of your workout. Don’t bounce while stretching. Instead, hold the position; bouncing can cause injuries. Stick to static stretching, and hold for at least 30 seconds.
6. Lunges and Squats. Don’t let your knees go past your toes during any exercise. The best example is the squat or lunge. Drop your hips down, and sit back when squating as if there is a chair a little to far back for you. Keep legs shoulder with as well. This will help you avoid injuries.
8. Biceps Curls. Be sure there’s no space between your elbows and the sides of your body when performing bicep curls. A lot of times we like to hold the arms out from the body.
9. Running. Heel to toe if you are going for the distance. Dorsi flexed and on the balls of your feet if you are doing sprint intervals. Both should not be performed heavy, but light footed. Don’t forget to use your arms. They are just as important as your feet and legs, and when used your running economy is better (i.e. more efficient).
10. Diet. Lack of water decreases your energy level, and fatigue almost always lead to poor technique. You should replenish your stores after your workout no more than 20 minutes after. This helps with muscle growth and recovery. Try a scoop of chocolate promasil added to water or non fat milk.
11. Personal Trainer. When you get a personal trainer, make sure that they are properly certified and have their CPR. Also make sure that they are just taking you through mindless workouts. It is important to have a periodized plan for best results, and always have a goal. The goals are what will keep you motivated besides having set appointments with your trainer.
12.Holding on tight to Cardio Equipment You should hold lightly and keep a tall posture posture. If you feel confident it is even better to do it hands free. When you naturally swing your arms it promotes more calorie burning and improves your balance. That will help with day to day activities.
The North Face has released a really cool hoodie just in time for the holidays. It's called the back yard project hoodie. Are you an athlete or fitness enthusiast? Are you having trouble fitting into jeans? The crafty fitness enthusiasts behind Barbell Apparel have designed jeans that fit. YEP I said it. Jeans that fit!!!!!!!!! They recently just launched their venture on Kickstarter.
According to the kickstarter site:
"Barbell Denim uses technologically superior denim designed to move in complete sync with your body. With our jeans it almost feels like you’re wearing nothing.
Designed for athletes, these jeans are made to fit comfortably over muscular legs by accommodating your quads and butt without forcing you to buy larger sizes for the small waist you work so hard for.
However, Barbell Denim will accommodate any body type. Even if your legs aren't particularly muscular, Barbell Denim will still look amazing on you and feel even more amazing as you move in them. Our hybrid denim stretches both ways so that it can compliment smaller legs, while still easily stretching to accommodate larger legs as well. "
I want a pair! I can never find jeans that fit! Who's with me?!
The Nike Free TR III Women's Training Shoe improves on its predecessor to deliver greater comfort and closer-to-barefoot training. The updated design combines enhanced training-specific flexibility and traction with lighter weight and a more modern upper-ideal for training at the gym or with Nike Training Club.
FLEXIBILITY
Deep flex grooves promote natural movement for a more barefoot-like feel. The upper is made of thin, lightweight materials with minimal seams to enhance multidirectional flexibility for natural range of motion.
LOW-PROFILE COMFORT
The low-profile design lets you feel closer to the ground, with a Phylite midsole that provides lightweight cushioning and enough durability to double as an outsole, dramatically reducing the overall weight of the shoe.
BREATHABLE SUPPORT
Breathable foam in the upper and internal support straps in the lateral forefoot and medial arch offer training-specific support. Raised foam in the arch adds even more support where you need it.
REDUCED LACE PRESSURE
The new comfort tongue lays flat on top of the foot and uses layers of sandwich mesh to help reduce lace pressure for a comfortable fit.
NIKE FREE ORIGINS
After learning that Stanford athletes had been training barefoot on the university's golf course, three of Nike's most innovative and creative employees set out to develop a shoe that felt natural and weightless, similar to bare feet. In 2002, they examined a group of men and women with pressure-measuring insoles taped to their feet, using high-speed cameras to capture images of each foot in motion.
The team spent eight years studying the biomechanics of shoeless running. The results yielded a profound understanding of the foot's natural landing angle, pressure and toe position, allowing Nike designers to build an unconventional and flexible running shoe from the inside out.
MORE BENEFITS
Heel pocket accommodates a variety of heel shapes for a comfortable fit
Training-specific traction pattern for multidirectional movement
Rubber pods at the heel and forefoot for durability
