PureFacts launches program for sustainable and meaningful community growth

PurePossibilities mirrors Maslow's hierarchy of needs and intends to create a community Flywheel Effect

TORONTO, Sept. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- PureFacts Financial Solutions has launched a comprehensive corporate citizenship program called PurePossibilities. The program was designed to help people in three main areas by providing essential needs, support in education, and meaningful employment.

The heart and vision of PureFacts is to see a day where everyone has financial well-being and are given the opportunity to live their best life. CEO Robert Madej, President Rajini McRae and many PureFacts employees come from humble beginnings, and PurePossibilities endeavours to provide a leg up to many such people, in the hopes that someday we achieve Worldwide Wealth.

“Many people in the PureFacts family have the advantage of a formal education, with all their basic needs covered, such as a place to live, access to food and clothing,” said Robert Madej, founder and CEO of PureFacts Financial Solutions. “By creating PurePossibilities, we are hoping to strengthen our communities and improve lives.”

PurePossibilities is based on Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs, in which essentials are layered from more concrete physiological needs (food, clothing and shelter) to safety (job security) and finally, self-actualization (pursuing goals).

Furthermore, through this program, there is a hoped-for flywheel effect, in which individuals will give back to their communities once they have secured jobs and are meeting their own goals in life and career. Introduced by Jim Collins in his influential book Good To Great, the Flywheel Effect illustrates that “companies don't become exceptional as a result of a single intervention or initiative, but rather from the accumulation of little wins that stack up over years.” In recent years, The Flywheel Effect has been used to help community revitalization efforts in Detroit.

“We are trying to help individuals get a leg up in financial wellbeing so they too can create more opportunities for others,” said Rajini McRae, President of PureFacts Financial Solutions. “What differentiates this program is that our employees provide mentorship to help scholarship recipients land a job at PureFacts or in our network. Through employment they start the process of financial wellbeing and can help others as well.”

PureFacts has divided up its own three pillars to focus into separate programs, each dedicated to supporting individuals and communities for long-term successes.

The Essential Needs program helps provide the bare necessities people need to survive, such as food and clothing. To date, PureFacts and its 140 employees provided food security through The Daily Bread Food Bank, it raised $10,000 in support of Ukraine, and partnered with LIGA Foundations in Lisbon, a non-profit institution that trains people in situations of vulnerability.

The PureScholars Education program helps lift individuals out of hardship through education. Scholarships to date are provided to multiple schools across Ontario, (the Rotman School of Business and the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, both at the University of Toronto; the University of Waterloo; and the University of Guelph.) The target student is one who has good grades, is involved in their community, and has financial needs. The program has provided $132,000 worth of scholarships for more than 30 students over five years.

The Employment program helps enable self-actualization through meaningful employment. It does so by offering mentorship, networking opportunities and interview preparation assistance so recipients achieve financial wellbeing and can give back to others. PurePossibilities has already paired two PureFacts employees with mentored students in this program.

“The pandemic has accelerated the need for PureFacts’ PurePossibilities program,” said McRae. “And while the program is growing faster than the team had anticipated, PureFacts is excited about the possibilities of making a difference in the community and towards its vision of Worldwide Wealth.”

CANNATROL WINS GROW UP INDUSTRY AWARD FOR DRYING AND CURING

NORTH SPRINGFIELD, VERMONT – September 29, 2022 – Cannatrol the new disruptive innovator in precision cannabis drying and curing systems, today announced that it has been awarded a Cannabis Industry Award – for Best Drying & Curing System at the 3rd Annual Grow Up Conference Awards.

The Grow Up Conference and Expo, an award-winning cannabis event, has been hailed as a top cannabis industry conference in Canada, hosting events in Niagara Falls, ON, and Victoria, BC.

“It is an honor for a growing company like ours to win such a big distinction in our industry,” said David Sandelman, Chief Engineer at Cannatrol and a serial technology innovator. “The award validates the difference our technology makes on the end product, and is further proof that precision drying, curing and storage is critical to the future of the cannabis industry.”

Proven Vaportrol® Technology

The technology driving Cannatrol Systems was originally developed to solve a drying and aging problem at one of the top cheese makers in the US.  Today, the twice patented technology is being used in hundreds of cheeses and meat aging/curing rooms across the country and is the proven standard for high-quality in the food industry.  Vaportrol Technology maintains proper vapor pressure (unlike other systems that rely on atmospheric pressure) throughout the drying and curing process for the food industry and now, through Cannatrol, for the cannabis sector.

How Cannatrol Works

Growing a quality product is a significant financial commitment.  Genetics, nutrients, power, and labor all get calculated into the cost of the grow cycle.  With that much investment in the grow process, it is critical to assure the product is dried, cured and stored in a clean, correct and properly controlled environment.  Anything less can result in a total loss of harvest.

The Cannatrol process starts with controlled water removal.  Users program the temperature, dew point and the length of time for the dry, cure and storage cycles.

When the cure is complete, finished product can be stored in the Cannatrol system until it is packaged and distributed. Unlike traditional drying solutions that can over dry product if left too long, there is no need to remove the flower from a Cannatrol System.  Product reaches equilibrium and remains in perfect conditions for curing and further storage.

The Cannatrol Dry/Cure System

The Cannatrol Dry/Cure system is available for large-scale and commercial growers, as well as a smaller Cool Cure system for home growers. The Cool Cure system dries as much as 1 kilo of wet flower and delivers the same consistent results as the commercial system.

Cannatrol commercial systems are intended for large scale commercial cultivators.  Systems can be customized to meet production demands from the largest growers to craft cultivators. Commercial systems are fitted with an integrated scale to monitor real-time water weight loss. Users can set up to five different environmental parameters per dry/cure/store cycle.  Other features of the commercial system to give reliable, repeatable results:

  • Multi sensor technology
  • Easy to navigate 7" color touch screen
  • Remote operating capability via iPhone/Android
  • Control of the environment without supplementary dehumidification
  • Food grade construction materials
  • Tech support and training

Doctors Offer Vaccine Insights as New Boosters are Readied

Santa Ana, CA, September 29, 2022 — Another COVID booster is on the horizon — this one targeting the BA.4 and BA.5 variants — opening the door for more discussion surrounding vaccine efficacy and the overall pandemic response.

Pointing to animal studies that date back more than 20 years, Dr. George Fareed of the Imperial Valley in California recently shared his perspective on why the type of vaccines being used have fallen short of expectations and possibly prolonged the pandemic.

“If you immunize a population in the pandemic with a vaccine that suppresses, to some extent, replication or gives some mild benefit of some sort in terms of the severity of the illness, it’s not a safe thing to do,” Dr. Fareed said. “You always use a blocking or a sterilizing vaccine — one that doesn’t allow the virus to break through. And that’s absolutely what we did not accomplish with these gene therapy-type vaccines … it doesn’t provide immunity or even prevent the infection for more than a few weeks or months …  so it allows for a mutable virus to generate variants and perpetuate a pandemic.”

In the early days of COVID-19, Dr. Fareed and Dr. Brian Tyson created an early treatment protocol comprised of both pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals. To date, they have successfully treated 12,000 COVID patients (and counting).

In their book, Overcoming the COVID Darkness, Drs. Fareed and Tyson chronicle their journey, detailing (in layperson’s terms) their COVID treatment formula and attempting to provide readers with clarity about the illness — with an entire chapter devoted to the vaccine response. The book also contains testimonials from patients and other doctors, research studies, news clippings, a letter they wrote to congress and a national COVID plan that can be adapted for future pandemics.

“Instead of the vaccine, people should have been treated early in the illness, and then they would have developed strong immunity, and we wouldn’t have all these new variants,” Dr. Fareed added.

About the Authors

Dr. George Fareed graduated from Harvard Medical School with Honors and completed a medical internship at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. He has worked at NIAID, at Harvard Medical School and at UCLA School of Medicine.

He was a founder and director of scientific planning of a biotech company, Ingene (International Genetic Engineering, Inc.). Since 1991, Dr. Fareed has worked clinically in primary medical care in the Imperial Valley of California. He has been on the frontline for early COVID-19 treatment, and has practiced the whole spectrum of COVID-19 care, treating outpatients as well as inpatients as a hospitalist. He testified on November 19, 2020, in the Senate Hearing on early COVID-19 treatment.

Dr. Brian Tyson is a board-certified family practitioner who worked as an emergency physician at Arrowhead Regional Medical center for 13 years and as a hospitalist physician for 14 years before opening his own urgent care in 2018.

Dr. Tyson was the Program Medical Director for Cogent Healthcare and Beaver Medical Group. His experience with COVID-19 has been exceptional, with over 30,000 patients evaluated, and zero deaths with early treatment.

His urgent care serves a high-risk population that includes two nursing homes, and his success was due to his aggressive early management. Due to his proven methodology, Dr. Tyson is considered a frontline COVID-19 treatment expert and has been featured on multiple media sites.

SAFE Method Promotes Peace, Empowerment After Trauma

Princeton, NJ, September 29, 2022 — Surviving sexual assault, attempted suicide and an arranged marriage is one thing. Processing all of that pain and living a full life proved to be something entirely different for speaker and author Poonam Bhuchar.

“In the shadows of emotional pain, survival can take priority over healing,” Bhuchar said. “Lasting reverberations of traumatic experiences can cripple decision-making skills, creep into relationships and leave scars on the people you love.”

Eventually, Bhuchar’s emotional trauma also took a physical toll. She suffered two strokes and temporary paralysis before beginning her long journey toward authentic healing.

Today, she shares her powerful story through speaking engagements and her book, SAFE From the Pain: Out of the Darkness Into a Life That’s Free, Happy, and Good.

Part memoir, part self-help revelation, SAFE From the Pain pairs Bhuchar’s inspiring story with the SAFE Method, which aims to help readers process emotional pain in healthy, productive ways so they can lead more fulfilling personal and professional lives.

In SAFE From the Pain, readers will learn:

- The four-step SAFE Method for working through emotions and regaining control.

- The impact that stress from emotional pain has on every aspect of life — including the workplace.

- How to overcome a victim mindset and accept responsibility — because ownership leads to action.

- Three types of forgiveness for freedom from society’s expectations, cultural beliefs and self-judgment.

- Why embracing one’s journey is essential to happiness, a bigger life purpose and alignment with one’s true self.

“Peace and empowerment after trauma are possible when you embrace your pain as part of your story,” Bhuchar said. “You can’t move forward if you live in the past.”

About the Author

Poonam Bhuchar runs a boutique law firm, is a life coach, author and a speaker on overcoming trauma and emotional pain. Born and raised in London, she immigrated to the United States at 21 and experienced a multitude of painful challenges such as sexual assault, abuse, and the aftermath and cultural humiliation of divorce. Throughout her journey, she developed the SAFE Method to help others acknowledge, discuss, and grow from their emotional pain without stigma or judgement. Her book, SAFE From the Pain: Out of the Darkness Into a Life That’s Free, Happy, and Good, has won multiple awards in the self-help category, including a five-star review from Literary Titan.

College Isn’t the Only Option: Children’s Book Aims to Spark Interest in the Trades

Boston, MA, September 29, 2022 — Joshua Page is an electrician by trade, but his other passion is destigmatizing society’s view of occupations like his and spreading the word that college isn’t the only avenue worth pursuing.

“So many kids don’t even know ‘trades’ exist. Their parents push them to college so much, and now we are seeing the effects of that,” Page said, pointing out that student loan debt in the U.S. is more than $1.7 trillion.

With the average ages of electricians and plumbers hovering in the 40s, Page felt compelled to do his part to inspire the next generation of tradespeople.

In his new children’s book, What Does Your Daddy Do?, Page introduces young readers to Ashton, whose fifth grade class is having career week. Ashton isn’t sure exactly what his dad does, so he goes home and asks him. Ashton then gets to learn about all the cool work his dad does as an electrician and all the interesting tools he gets to use. As career week continues, all the students get to share stories about what their parents do.

“I wrote this book to plant a seed in a younger generation’s mind about how ‘cool’ the trades are and to start the conversation young,” Page added.

About the Author

Joshua Page is a husband, father, electrician, entrepreneur and TEDx Speaker. With the release of his first book, What Does Your Daddy Do?, Page has also added “author” to his many titles.

An electrician by trade, Page is passionate about informing the younger generation of all the career options they have in addition to college. Page believes that choosing a trade and working with his hands saved his life and allowed him to have the life he loves. As a father of two, his mission is to teach his children and their generation about how fulfilling a career in the trades can be and to encourage them to follow their own path in life.

How To Overcome Burnout in All Facets of Life Tips from a Psychology Performance PhD

www.drhaleyperlus.com

Burnout is on the rise. A recent report from Indeed found that 52% of all workers are feeling burned out.

(Source: https://www.indeed.com/lead/preventing-employee-burnout-report

Burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged and excessive stress. Burnout is prevalent and can result from overly demanding expectations, lack of control, lack of social support, taking on more than one can handle at work, school, or interpersonally with family and friends, or poor self-care, among other causes. Burnout can affect the quality of life and well-being in various negative ways.

We turned to Haley Perlus, Sport and Performance Psychology Ph.D. to discuss ways to overcome burnout.

Here Are Tips On How To Overcome Burnout:

How to overcome/prevent burnout at your job

To overcome/prevent burnout at your job, first, identify what you can change. For example, learning how to say no at work when you are working on multiple tasks simultaneously can help lessen stress and frustration. Evaluating your commitments, setting boundaries, and learning when to turn down requests will help you get the rest you need to give yourself and others your best. Setting personal and professional boundaries is essential to bounce back from burnout because if you feel taken advantage of or disempowered by your relationships, your self-esteem is impacted. Low self esteem affects stress levels, health, and personal relationships. Clear communication is key in setting boundaries that empower yourself, give you more control, reduce stress, and put you on the road to better well-being.

How to overcome/prevent burnout as a parent

Recovery can take two forms. One form is practicing stillness. Stillness techniques include, but are not limited to, meditation, deep breathing, sleep (including naps), and simple, quiet time. Even just one minute of quality deep breathing can renew emotional energy. Variety is the second form of recovery that can treat and prevent burnout. Variety essentially offers you an opportunity to recover from one task while engaging in another task that requires a different type of energy. For example, physical activity provides positive stress for your body while creating wonderful recovery for your emotions and mind. Stepping away from your computer for 10 minutes and folding laundry while listening to calming, peaceful, and happy music can provide mental recovery. If you take advantage of it, your mind will escape from the computer and the music will help with emotional recovery (as long as you don’t focus on the pressure of getting chores down and, instead, enjoy crossing laundry off the list while enjoying your favorite music). No matter what recovery (i.e. stillness and variety) you choose for yourself today, take everything one step at a time, and make small changes along the way. Tiny changes can have a ripple effect that eventually leads to significant results in your overall health.

How to overcome/prevent burnout as a caregiver

When taking care of a family member, friend or loved one, most of the sympathy tends to go to the person who is ill or infirmed. Many forget the emotional and physical toll that being a caregiver can present. More than 40 million adults in North America are taking care of elderly, chronically ill or disabled loved ones, according to Pew Research Center. Signs of burnout can include, but are not limited to: depression, fatigue, anxiety about the future, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, hopelessness and other symptoms. Although being a caregiver is never easy, there are some things you can do to make it more manageable. Ask for help whenever possible, whether paying a professional or calling upon a friend or family member. Don’t skip your own medical appointments. If you are not well, you are not in a position to care for someone else. Check policies for family leave benefits at work. Don’t feel like you have to keep a constant vigil by their bedside, especially if you know they tend to nap or sleep at times of the day. Use those times for some self-care and pampering. Speak to other caregivers you know to get tips on managing, or speak with the attending physician or hospital social worker.

How to overcome/prevent burnout as a student

To overcome burnout as a student, set reasonable goals. Write a to-do-list each day of assignments that need to get done and note their due dates. Use daily reminders and calendars to stay motivated to achieve deadlines. Set aside time and pencil in time to practice mindfulness. Time away from your obligations is just as important as time spent fulfilling your obligations. Practice self-care to reduce stress and let your mind relax. Celebrate small wins along the way and keep the end goal in mind. Think big picture: one bad grade does not determine your future.

How to overcome prevent/burnout from working out

If you overtrain and don’t allow your body to fully recover, you are likely to experience workout burnout. Also, boredom will kick in if you stay with the same routine over a long period. If you overtrain, you are more susceptible to injuries that can take you out of your routine and make it harder to “jump back in.” Setting fitness goals that are realistic for your age, level of condition and work/personal schedule is critical. Many athletes or “weekend warriors” feel guilty if they take a break from training. It is wise to take off two days a week. There is a reason for the term “stress fracture.” While weight training is great for improving bone density and high-impact workouts are excellent for cardio, your bones get stressed, which can lead to fractures. Don’t obsess over numbers, reps, inches etc. Focus more on how you feel after the workout mentally and physically. Switch up your workouts so that you don’t reach an exercise plateau. If you need to, get a fitness buddy, change your workout environment, the music you listen to, or treat yourself to some new workout gear.

Proposed reg changes will get more nurses registered

CNO now publishing applicant stats

TORONTO, Sept. 29, 2022 /CNW/ - The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) protects the public through the promotion of safe nursing practice. This includes the registration of nurses with the knowledge, skill and judgment to practice safely in Ontario. CNO's Council has unanimously approved proposed regulations to increase the number of nurses who can register in Ontario.

The Minister of Health directed CNO and its Council in August 2022 to register Internationally Educated Nurses as quickly as possible. CNO has worked closely with government to propose changes to modify Temporary Registration and Reinstatement regulations enabling the timelier registration of nurses.

"These significant regulatory actions will further expedite the registration of Internationally Educated Nurses in Ontario," says Naomi Thick, CNO Council President. "As leaders in nursing regulation, Council is pleased that the proposed changes serve our purpose to protect the public."

Now that CNO's Council has approved these regulations, they will be submitted to government for review and approval. Only after government approval will the regulations take effect. More details about these changes will be available on our website in the coming days.

"We are resolutely committed to protecting the public by registering safe and competent nurses," says Silvie Crawford, Executive Director and CEO of CNO. "The regulation changes proposed by Council today will allow CNO to build on an already successful year, where we are breaking records for nursing registrations in Ontario."

Along with this Council decision, CNO is pleased to share applicant statistics on our website. CNO is the accurate source of information about nursing statistics in Ontario. As part of our commitment to transparency, CNO will regularly report application statistics online to give the public, applicants and our partners in the health care system timely access to valuable information. These are in addition to the extensive registrant statistics already available.

We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts with the Ministry and other system partners to explore longer-term strategies to respond to the growing demand for nurses. Check the News section of cno.org for regular updates as this develops.

Catastrophic Drought, Rising Seas: Which Is to Be Feared Most?

The Late Dr. Noomen Offered Answers That Might Provide Perspective

Los Angeles, CA, September 29, 2022 — A recent news feed from The Associated Press coincidently put two headlines in close proximity: “The worst drought in Europe in decades” and “Zombie ice from Greenland will raise sea level 10 inches.” Which should be feared most? And is it possible that the rising sea level will cancel out the drought, and all will be well?

Climate change, by most accounts, is a real threat, but perhaps it’s helpful to step back and look at the big picture. The late author and scholar Dr. Pieter Noomen wrote at length about how to approach the ups and downs of life in a way that doesn’t lead to high anxiety.

His writings remain available free on his website, www.wordsforall.org — a treasure trove of philosophical and spiritual information that he said he was given from the highest of sources. One of his many musings begins with a hypothetical question from humankind to that higher power: “Is there any limit, ending or moment of saturation that could pose a threat to existence itself?”

The answer that Dr. Noomen said he was given: “No. The totality of all that exists expands forever in size, density and newness. For human intelligence, this is all but impossible to figure out, tied as our thinking is to the earthly ideas of distance, time and place. The vastness of the galaxies and how it all began is therefore seen as a mystery. Human brains reach only so far, so they have to forgo grasping, in spite of theories, beliefs and scientific formulas.

“Even fantasies or dreams about life's totality have their limits. Yet, in the meantime, each person is at any moment part of the one seemingly elusive Total, whether one cares about this or not. These lessons provide a map for gaining insight that transcends the customary modes of coming to conclusions.”

In other words, there’s a “big picture” that’s bigger than anyone can imagine, and it includes what some might call eternity.

Born in the Netherlands, Pieter Noomen worked as a psychotherapist and staff member at a Los Angeles church. He completed doctoral studies in theology and pastoral psychology at the Free University of Amsterdam and became senior minister of three Protestant churches.

An example of Dr. Noomen’s Wisdoms of the Week from his website:

“It seems scientifically proven that laughing is good for our health. (I still regret that I can't even tell a joke. Sorry!) Yet I know a source that always lets me smile inside. That happens when I realize how awesomely great the universe is and how tiny I am. And much more, when I realize that this Totality of all, Life in its full volume, is essentially a love reality. Many may not feel or believe that, yet now I know that not my sense of reality counts, but the fact that He/She/It Who is the All doesn't focus on that but just wants our relationship to be a love affair. That thought often causes more than a smile inside. I want to sing!”
