There is simply too much misleading information out there when it comes to learning how to losing fat and quite honestly; I’m fed up with it. So I’ve decided to write this article on the 3 biggest weight loss myths known to man and how to correct them. Here we go:

Myth #1 – Juice diets burn fat fast and permanently

You need to seriously consider what the term “juice diet” actually means. Quite honestly, it is talking about consuming nothing but juice for a given period of time, typically over the course of several days or weeks. Many celebrities use this trick to shed fat before a big show, but you need to consider it with caution.

Most celebrities are already in decent shape. The workout regularly and eat a healthy diet and it is part of their job to look in a particular fashion. This is why many of them go on juice diets a few days before a big show, since it helps them to lose a few extra pounds and tighten up their physique.

Don’t get me wrong, juice can be incredibly nutritious. Fruits and vegetables contain tons of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which help keep nearly every single bodily function working properly. Despite this, they still don’t provide the body with everything they need to function properly and drinking nothing but juice can very easily put your body into starvation mode.

You should always be weary anytime a personal trainer or fitness “expert” tells you to do a juice fast for a couple of days to lose weight. Your body needs two things to survive – fat and protein. In fact, your body could technically survive without fruits and vegetables if it had to, but not fat and protein. If you cut all of the fat and protein out of your diet and replace it with nothing but juice (which doesn’t contain fat or protein) then you are facing severe malnourishment issues – even if you’re only on the diet for a couple of days.  So save your health and avoid juice diets all together – they are simply not worth it.

Myth #2 – Not eating anything is the best way to lose weight

I’m sure you’ve seen those late night infomercials with the ripped fitness models who have claimed that they “lost 10 pounds in a week” with this brand new product. But seriously ask yourself – is it even possible to lose 10 pounds in a week? I’m sure you could, but you would have to severely cut your calories and this would slow down your metabolism and make you burn muscle, turning you into a soft, weak slob. When you try losing weight this quickly your fat burning capabilities are shut off and your body is put into starvation mode. To avoid this, a much better approach is to lose weight slowly, no more than two pounds per week. You’ll save your health, physique and you will overall feel much better when you lose weight this way. Slow and steady wins the race when it comes to weight loss.

Myth #3 – You can burn belly fat by wrapping your stomach in rubber or plastic

This one is hilarious. Sure, doing this might tighten up your stomach, but only when the rubber or plastic is still wrapped around your belly.

You might lose some water weight as well, but as far as fat burning goes you won’t lose an ounce! Fat is burned through one thing and one thing alone – a calorie deficit.
