LANCORA™ (ivabradine) now covered by the Ontario Public Drug Program and British Columbia PharmaCare for patients suffering from chronic heart failure
LAVAL, QC, Nov. 5, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ – Servier Canada Inc. is pleased to announce that following Quebec and Saskatchewan, LANCORA™ is now covered by the Ontario Public Drug Program and British Columbia PharmaCare for patients suffering from chronic heart failure.
LANCORA™ can be prescribed and reimbursed for the treatment of stable chronic heart failure with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (≤35%) in adult patients with New York Heart Association (NYHA) classes II or III who are in sinus rhythm with a resting heart rate ≥ 77 beats per minute (bpm), to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular mortality and hospitalizations for worsening heart failure, administered in combination with standard chronic heart failure therapies. Over 600 000 Canadians are living with heart failure and 50 000 are diagnosed with the condition every year. Heart failure is a major cause of illness and disability, long and frequent hospital stays and premature death. Heart failure is a complex and incurable condition, resulting in the heart not being able to pump sufficient blood to meet the body’s demandsiii.
