A Circus Legacy Continued
Great Benjamins Circus is led by third generation circus performer John Davenport, who continues a family legacy deeply connected to circus history.
The circus was founded in honour of Benjamin C. Davenport. After attending college for one semester, Davenport chose a different path and joined a travelling circus. He later purchased what he called “the smallest horse in the world” and began presenting it at circuses and exhibitions.
That experience inspired his lifelong passion for circus entertainment and performance. Davenport was inducted into the Circus Hall of Fame in 1993, and his family continues to honour his legacy through Great Benjamins Circus.
